WordPress Wins & Woes: What Worked (and What Was Tricky)
Launching Aloha Fit on WordPress was exciting, creative, and (sometimes) chaotic. While the platform offers tons of flexibility, not everything was smooth sailing. Here’s what worked best—and what tested my patience.
WordPress Wins
1. Page Builders Helped Me Visualize Everything
Using Zion Builder made it way easier to design and edit pages visually. Drag-and-drop elements kept things moving quickly and in a very aesthetically pleasing way.
2. Plugins Added Power
From sliders to carousels to counters, plugins made it possible to add complex features without coding. Just be careful—too many can cause chaos.
3. Creative Freedom
WordPress gave me so much control of the site’s design, layout, and structure, which made Aloha Fit truly feel like its own brand.
WordPress Woes
1. Incompatible Builders = Site Crashes
At one point, switching builders and/or adding plug-ins caused the entire site and WordPress dashboard to disappear. I had to call customer support to help restore the site. Lesson learned!
2. Each Tool Has Its Own Learning Curve
Even simple changes took time to figure out—especially when jumping between plugins, theme settings, and builder panels.
3. Plugin Overload is Real
Installing too many plugins caused conflicts and slowed things down. I am learning to test one at a time and delete anything I didn’t really need. This is still very much a work in progress.
Final Thoughts
WordPress was the right choice—but it came with growing pains. The key takeaway? Test everything, back up often, and expect to spend time learning as you go.
