New Tools, Big Impact: Plugins I Added to Boost Aloha Fit
As I built out the Aloha Fit website, I realized how much more I could do by tapping into WordPress plugins—especially those designed to work smoothly with the Kallyas theme and Zion Builder. Instead of bloating the site with dozens of tools, I focused on a select few that added real value and helped tell the site’s story more effectively.
Better Navigation & User Flow
Kallyas Addon – Overlay Navigation
Why I added it: I wanted something more visual and immersive than a standard nav bar.
What it does: Creates a full-screen overlay menu—perfect for a brand where imagery matters.
znpb Breadcrumbs
Why I added it: To help users understand where they are on the site.
What it does: Adds a breadcrumb trail—especially helpful for blog or location-based pages.
Design Flexibility
znpb Blog Posts Layout
Why I added it: To give blog content a more dynamic, branded layout.
What it does: Allows for flexible styling of posts—great for updates, trainer features, and tips.
znpb Counter Element
Why I added it: To highlight stats like member milestones or class counts.
What it does: Adds animated number counters for visual impact.
znpb Before & After
Why I added it: To showcase transformations or compare visual content.
What it does: Adds an interactive slider—perfect for fitness results or site design comparisons.
Experimenting with Layouts
Beaver Builder
Why I added it: For added layout flexibility beyond what Zion offered in some areas.
What it does: A solid visual builder I tested on select pages. Ultimately, I stayed with Zion for consistency.
Testing… and Letting Go
Various Elementor Plugins (Removed)
I tried a few Elementor-based plugins to expand layout options, but ran into major compatibility issues—especially when used alongside Zion tools. At one point, the entire layout broke and I had to call support to restore the site. I did keep the Elementor plugin, I used that to create the blog posts. But I deleted the others.
Lesson learned: Mixing multiple page builders can lead to serious conflicts. I chose mostly to stick with Zion for a smoother, more reliable build.
Final Thoughts
These plugins helped me move beyond the basics and shape a site that feels custom, flexible, and on-brand. Instead of adding tools just because they were popular, I chose ones that directly supported the look, feel, and functionality I needed.
If you’re building your own site, don’t be afraid to explore—but be intentional about what stays. A few great tools can take your build to the next level.
